Fulham academy coach Kit Symons has praised Andy Awford for his work at Portsmouth.

Fulham nabbed Aussie winger Ryan Williams from Pompey last month.

"We're doing nicely in the league and the cup which is great, but the bigger picture is about developing players for your first team. That's what Portsmouth have done and Andy has done a fantastic job under very difficult circumstances," Symons told Fulhamfc.com.

"Ryan Williams is a case in point.

"He obviously did very well for himself down there and now he's made the move over to Fulham and is playing regularly in our reserves.

"He's [Williams] a player who developed very nicely at Portsmouth and we're very grateful to them for all the hard work they did with him. Hopefully now we'll be reaping the rewards of that."
