Wellington Phoenix goalkeeper Mark Paston has again been left frustrated after sustaining another season-ending injury.

The New Zealand international was forced out of the club's run into the finals last season after a mishap at training left him with a broken leg and this season he is set to be sidelined for the remainder of the matches due to a depressed fracture of the tibial plateau.

A freak collision with Gold Coast United striker Bruce Djite on Saturday night brought the latest issue along and Paston wonders why he continually gets the worst of the leg injuries.

"I'd like to say it's a weakness that I could do something about, but it just unlucky really. This sort of thing seems to happen to me," Paston said.

"Part of it makes it very frustrating doing something again, especially when it's a very uncommon injury.

"I suppose when I get round to my rehab I know I can do it and I know exactly what I need to do and that will help."

But Paston feels if he takes the same rehabilitation steps he did with a similar injury last time around, things can be as good as they were earlier this season.

"I've been feeling as good and as fit as ever. That's probably another frustrating thing," the 34-year old added.

"My body feels good and that's the reason why I signed another contract. I felt I had at least another season in me.

"This doesn't change my mind. My left knee is like it's never had an op on it so there's no reason why this can't be the same."
