From Moscow to Saint Petersburg - World Cup 2018: Day Six

Over the next month, I'll be covering the World Cup for Tribalfootball. And along the way, I'd like to share with you some of my experiences and keep you up to date with all the action!

Spartak

Moscow's second stadium, although half the size of the Luzhniki, was mighty impressive. As a football fan, visiting stadiums is half the fun. It's like visiting a new city. Each have their own stories and unique characteristics.

Otkritie Arena, as it is known outside of the World Cup, stands out with its coloured exterior that matches the red and white home colours of its tenant, Spartak Moscow. Yesterday, though, Senegal surprised top-seeded Poland, and I was fortunate enough to have a terrific view of the action.

Boyhood heroes

On my way to the media centre to pick up my ticket, I saw Terry Butcher. Sheepishly, I asked the big man for a selfie. He reassured me that it was perfectly fine, and gave me a big grin as I shoved the camera in his face. He then told me Ally McCoist was inside if I wanted to see him. Silly question Tez! I idolised McCoist as a kid. My mother almost named my brother after him.

I walked over and 'Super Ally' was preparing notes for his commentator duties. Rather than be annoyed by my interruption, he stood up out of his seat and we chatted for a couple of minutes about the World Cup. He couldn't have been a nicer guy.

CR7

Cristiano Ronaldo's hat-trick in Sochi on Friday helped salvage a draw for Portugal against Spain, and the Real Madrid man will have to be at his best again today when they face Morocco at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow. I'm beyond excited to see Ronnie play in the flesh. Here's hoping for another 30-yard free-kick into the top bin.

Uruguay and Saudi Arabia follow in Rostov-on-Don. This could be the South Americans chance to find some rhythm against an underwhelming Saudi outfit. Last up, Spain need a win over Group B leaders Iran in Kazan. Another big day of football ahead!
