From Gravesend to Real Madrid, it’s been a journey - Man City keeper Hart

Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart made his first-team debut for Shrewsbury Town in April 2004.

The 29-year-old admits it was an enormous thrill to step out for his boyhood club in a Conference fixture but suggests that Wednesday night's Champions League semi-final second leg at Real Madrid may just surpass his senior bow.

"It was against Gravesend," said Hart of his Shrews debut.

"I was absolutely buzzing to make my debut for my home-town club.

"I honestly had no other thought but to be feeling so happy. From Gravesend to Real Madrid, it's been an interesting journey so far."

12 years on from his first match in senior competitive football, Hart has made over 350 appearances for City on his way to two Premier League titles, one FA Cup and a pair of League Cups. He has also appeared 57 times for England.
