Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has welcomed Robin van Persie's appointment as new club captain.
The Dutchman was appointed skipper following Cesc Fabregas' departure to Barcelona last week and wore the armband against Liverpool on Saturday.
"I couldn't have picked a better captain for Arsenal," Frimpong told the Official Arsenal Matchday Programme.
"I just wish him luck as captain and hopefully he can take the Club forward.
"When I was in the Reserve team and used to come over to train with the first team he was always so good to me - he makes everyone feel welcome and cracks jokes with them, which is just what you need."
