Brad Friedel admits it's been an eye-opener working for Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill.

The 37 year-old American goalkeeper said: "Martin knows what to do. One of his best attributes over the years has been his man-management. Now I've been here a little bit I know why.

"The players know where they stand but also have to stay on their toes at all times with him which is how it should be.

"I still feel like I am 21, everything flies by. You should play everything like it is your last game. It may sound like a cliché but it's true.

"The worst day at football is still probably a lot better than a lot of other peoples' jobs.

"But we do definitely know that there is work to be done and we are going to get on the training ground and we will do our best to get it right."
