Fridjonsson impressed by Celtic standard

Holmbert Aron Fridjonsson insists he has been impressed by the level of training he has experienced since joining Celtic.

The 20-year old Icelandic striker linked up with his new club for training at the start of December as he prepares to be ready for action when he officially becomes a Hoops player on January 1.

Fridjonsson, who has crossed from Reykjavik-based club Fram, says he is learning plenty about his new surroundings and is looking forward to kicking off his career with the Glasgow giants.

"It's a huge difference being here compared to Iceland, so it will take time, but hopefully not too long," he told the club's official website.

"I'm used to training in the afternoon, not the morning, and being professional is different so it will take time before the fans see me at my best, but hopefully that´s just a short time.

"It is more intense here, the tempo is a lot quicker. You have to think fast and the physical side is better too. This is a professional league so that is the main difference. Every player is better."

He added: "I'm training with my new teammates every day so I think it will come quickly. I like how we play with a lot of crosses so hopefully I can get into the box a lot.

"I am a big, tall striker and I can hold up the ball. I am good in the air, I have good technique."
