Fiorentina goalkeeper Sebastien Frey has defended his teammates after their 1-1 draw with Bayern Munich.

The result leaves the Viola fighting to remain in the Champions League as they also continue to stumble in Serie A.

"We are extremely disappointed because we played really well," Frey told Violachannel.tv. "We gave Bayern real trouble and I felt we deserved more than a single point.

"The goalmouth incidents make their mark on football matches and we were a bit unfortunate last night.

"However, if we keep working like this and become more consistent I believe we are on the right track.

"We are a good side and we put in one of the best performances of the season against the Germans."
