Newcastle boss Chris Hughton could make a move for French trialist Fabrice Pancrate after watching him impress on reserve-team duty. The former Paris St Germain winger played in Tuesday night's 3-2 victory over Hartlepool.
Hughton told the Journal: "He did well. We really wanted to see him in a game, so we gave him the opportunity."
He added: "He will be training with us for the next few days and that will give us a chance to have a real good look at him.
"We already have great quality on the right-hand side with Ryan Taylor, Jonas [Gutierrez] and Danny Guthrie, but he could offer us something different with his pace.
"His biggest asset is his experience - he's played in a couple of positions, is good on the ball, works hard and I enjoyed watching him."
