French kid Gael Kakuta helped Chelsea defeat Port Vale 5-2 and book a place in the FA Youth Cup semifinals for the first time in 35 years last night.

Kakuta, 16, hit a hat-trick in the romp, with centre-forward Morten Nielsen and Miroslav Stoch also getting on the scoresheet.

Blues coach Paul Clement told Chelsea TV: "We came out the blocks fantastically. The first 20 minutes were some of the best football we have played all year and we could have had five or six goals in that period. It is difficult to sustain that for the 90 minutes but we played some good football.

"A club of Chelsea's stature should be competing at this stage of tournaments."
