French hopeful Achille Degan has revealed he's met with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

Degan travelled over to England and set up camp outside Arsenal's training ground in the hope of persuading his compatriot to give him a chance to impress.

However, Degan's plan has come to nothing after Wenger told him he wouldn't be getting a trial.

Degan told the Daily Star: "I met Arsene Wenger on Sunday and I had the chance to talk to him.

"I asked him if there was a possibility I could train with the team.

"Unfortunately he told me it would not be possible.

"He told me the transfer window was closed and he would not be able to do anything for me now.

"He gave me encouragement and I had some kind words with him.

"I assured him Arsenal's poor form would not continue and they we went our separate ways."
