Toronto FC goalkeeper Stefan Frei admits it is a relief to be on the verge of his first MLS start in more than two years.
The 27-year old Swiss gloveman will get his chance in the absence of the suspended Joe Bendik when TFC meet Chicago Fire in what could be his final game for the Canadian club.
Frei said it had been tough to be demoted to second-choice in recent seasons but feels has stood strong throughout process.
"It'll be good to finally get out there in a game," he said.
"There were some tough moments mentally.
"I tried to stay professional, tried to work my butt off in training. That was pretty much all I could do, and that's all I'm going to say to that."
Frei, who is the clubs vice-captain, also added that he was unsure of what his future holds for him at Toronto.
"I have no idea. You'll have to ask the coach for that. Obviously there's been so much change," he added.
