Freedman delighted as ten-man Palace hold Leeds

Crystal Palace boss Dougie Freedman lauded his players after they drew 1-1 with Leeds despite playing the majority of the match with 10 men. The Eagles were already ahead when Sean Scannell was dismissed in the first half and hung-on until the 63rd minute when visitor's Leeds United levelled. Freedman said: "A manager is always going to be disappointed with any sending off. The way it came about was also disappointing.

"I felt the decision was made too quickly and looking back, (it was) probably not a sending off.

"But the referee has to make these decisions in real time and the game is quick today. I think that's why the few seconds after the referee blows the whistle, is very crucial to them.

"It is unfortunate but we don't look for excuses. We got on with it and got a good point.

"We played well in the first half and controlled the majority of the match and we had a deserved lead at half-time.

"Unfortunately, the goal set us back because we had to adjust mentally and physically because when you are down to 10 men, they could have gone on and won the game.

"But we had great energy levels and I am happy with that point."
