Free agent Riggott hoping to fill Celtic's defensive void

Former Derby County and Middlesbrough defender Chris Riggott is chasing a short-term deal with Scottish giants Celtic.

The 30-year old is currently a free agent after leaving Cardiff City in early February and it has been reported that the Hoops are now interested in bringing him to Celtic Park.

Riggott would provide good cover for the injured Daniel Majstorovic who is out for around eight weeks with a broken toe although he himself is only just returning to full fitness following a thigh injury sustained whilst at Cardiff.

The former England U21 international, who has also previously enjoyed a loan spell with Stoke City, has been training with Derby since parting ways with the Bluebirds and is looking to set up camp with Celtic for at leas the remainder of the season.
