Robert Green is set to go through a medical with Chelsea ahead of signing a one year contract, per Sky Sports News.

The former England number one keeper will be the designated backup to Thibaut Courtois and Willy Caballero.

No one is expecting the 38-year-old to play many games next season. But he is an experienced squad option should he be needed.

Green was released by Huddersfield at the end of last season.

He has enjoyed a distinguished career in the Premier League with clubs such as West Ham United.

But many remember Green for his howler for England against the USA at the World Cup a few years ago.
