DC United have re-signed Brazilian midfielder Fred four years after he first joined the club. The 31-year old has been re-acquired by the Washington club from the New England Revolution in exchange for a 2013 SuperDraft 2nd round pick.
Fred started with DC in 2007, joining from A-League club Melbourne Victory, and has since had stints with New Zealand's A-League outfit Wellington Phoenix and Philadelphia Union before he joined the Revs at the end of 2010.
"We are excited that Fred will be back in a United jersey," said DC United General Manager Dave Kasper. "He will make our already deep midfield that much deeper and give us a great attacking player who can create and score goals.
"Fred is very motivated to return to DC, and we look forward to his contributions."
