France's Deschamps explains reasons for overlooking Man City's Nasri

France manager Didier Deschamps has disclosed his reasons for omitting Samir Nasri from his World Cup squad.

The 26-year old Manchester City attacking midfielder was left out of Les Bleus 23-man roster for Brazil 2014 and was not even included in the seven-man standby list.

Deschamps has revealed his decision to leave out Nasri who he admits has been below par at international level.

"Samir is an important player for Manchester City but he has not performed that well with France," said the France boss.

"He is a starter at City, which is not the case with France, and he has made it clear that he is not happy when he is a substitute - and I can tell you it can be felt in the squad.

"I built the best squad, I did not pick the 23 best French players."
