Frail hopes Hearts turned corner after Cup victory

After their CIS Cup victory over Stirling Albion, Hearts coach Stephen Frail hopes they've turned the corner.

A Laurie Ellis own goal prior to the interval and a composed Laryea Kingston finish in the second half saw off the second-round challenge of the Irn-Bru First Division outfit.

Hearts travelled to Forthbank bereft of confidence following the weekend's 5-0 thumping from Celtic.

However, Albion supporters hoping to see their side create a shock were left disappointed as Hearts dominated from start to finish to claim the deserved win.

And, after seeing the team pick up just two points from four games so far this term, Frail is keeping his fingers crossed the win will be a turning point.

He said: "It was a difficult one after the start we made to the season and there is obviously the 5-0 defeat to Celtic as well.

"It was a potential banana skin and I think a lot of people expected a cup upset.

"I am glad we disappointed them and the people that left happy are us.

"We showed a spirit and a desire to win the game which was pleasing.

"There were also little things like a growing togetherness on the park which has not been evident since the start of the season.

"Now we can hopefully build on that from here and keep building for the Motherwell match next Monday.

"That will be a very difficult game but it is one we are all looking forward to."

Frail was also pleased with the contribution from midfield where Michael Stewart and Kingston teamed up to good effect.

Former Manchester United playmaker Stewart played a superb pass to the Ghana international for the decisive second goal.

Frail added: "Laryea showed he can certainly play and we need him to do that more often for us.

"The passages of play between Larry and Michael Stewart were excellent."
