Frail delighted as Hearts bounce back

Hearts coach Stephen Frail was delighted with the way his players bounced back to defeat Motherwell yesterday after a difficult week.

Laryea Kingston's 24th-minute strike and an injury-time finish by Andrius Velicka gave the Jambos their first Clydesdale Bank Premier League triumph of the season.

Frail was delighted with the way his side repelled a series of Motherwell attacks to atone somewhat for their 5-0 thrashing at Celtic last weekend, which caused the coach to raise concerns about team spirit.

Frail said: "I don't think we played particularly well. What I was pleased with were the last-ditch tackles and the boys fighting for each other.

"A lot has been made about this team spirit thing. I'm not saying we have got it back but I think they showed tonight they are willing to fight for each other and the club.

"We will just make sure we get together and build on what has been a pleasing performance."

Frail was especially happy that the players had gone out for a meal to address some of the issues without being forced by the coaching staff.

"That's one of the most pleasing things - we have not done anything," Frail said. "We left it up to them and they went a long way to restoring some pride back to themselves and the club.

"They identified after the Celtic game they had to do something."
