North Queensland Fury believe they have convinced Robbie Fowler to join the club, now he needs to convince his family.

Fury boss Don Matheson has spent the last few days with the former Liverpool star and said if he could have it his way he'd sign with the club today.

"I think if it was his decision to make on the spot he'd be here," Matheson said.

"But with four kids, his wife's sort of very happy where they are and he's got to get through that."

Fowler was very impressed by the city, the club and the people.

"I have nothing but good things to go home and speak to my wife about in terms of the club and facilities," he told the Townsville Bulletin.

"To say I am impressed is probably an understatement in terms of what they have shown me in the club situation."
