Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler believes the fans have forgiven Luis Suarez for last season's controversies.
Fowler insists that, even though the Uruguayan made a public plea to leave the club in the summer and had to serve a ten game ban for biting Branislav Ivanovic, the supporters have forgiven the 26-year-old due to the commitment he has shown on the pitch.
He told the London Evening Standard: "He's come back and worked hard, and he's been a real handful for Liverpool - his level of professionalism has been superb.
"His form has been excellent as well, and perhaps he's shown that he has improved after his time out. The fans understood what happened but have definitely got behind him once again.
Red hot: Suarez has been scoring more than a goal a game for Liverpool "A new contract is designed to keep him at the club. With a new deal, the club have more security and control over his future. Liverpool did well in the summer, they put their foot down and said Suarez was staying, and I think even if clubs did come in for him again after signing the new contract, that doesn't necessarily mean that he will leave."
