Former Palermo chief Rino Foschi has detailed how they managed to sign Napoli star Edinson Cavani.

Palermo brought the Uruguayan to Italy before selling him onto Napoli.

"We were already well placed when Juventus made their move," current Padova director Foschi told Tuttosport.

"Our biggest rivals for him were actually Fiorentina and Pantaleo Corvino who wanted to take him to the Viola.

"Real Madrid also tried to sign him with some decision. Fortunately, the player's agent was serious and kept his promise with us."
