Former West Ham midfielder Kevin Nolan has turned down the chance to play for a French Ligue 1 club, according to Sky Sports.
They understand Nolan, who was released in the summer after four years with the Hammers, rejected the offer of a contract after two weeks of negotiations.
It is believed the move fell through because the 33-year-old did not feel it was right for him or his family.
Nolan is training with League Two Leyton Orient - managed by former West Ham assistant Ian Hendon - to maintain his fitness.
The former Bolton and Newcastle captain is determined to win a contract at a Premier League club and newspapers have reported interest from Sunderland and Bournemouth, but no deal has materialised.
