Alessandro Diamanti is set to miss Guangzhou Evergrande's Asian Champions League clash with Melbourne Victory on Tuesday night.
The Italian midfielder, formerly of Premier League club West Ham United, did not make the trip from China to Melbourne for the fifth matchday of Asian's premier club competition which is a major blow to the reigning Asian and Chinese champions.
A post on Twitter from GZ Evergrande News suggested that Diamanti would be absent from the Group G fixture which takes place at the Etihad Stadium. China international Rong Hao would also miss according to the tweet.
Terrible injury overwhelms Evergrande. Diamanti didn't go to Melbourne with team, and now Rong Hao was injured as well.
