The Guam Football Association has appointed Gary White, who helped the British Virgin Islands and Bahamas improve their world rankings under his stewardship, as their Technical Director and national team head coach, reports the official Asian Football Confederation web site. White most recently was the Technical Director for Washington Youth Soccer and played a big role in football development programmes for the state of Washington as well as the Seattle Sounders, a Major League Soccer team in the USA.
As Guam's new technical director, White has pledged to restructure and modernise Guam's current programmes.
Prior to working in Washington, White saw much success as the head coach of national football teams in the British Virgin Islands and the Bahamas.
"One of the things I'd like to do is change the mentality of other Asian countries about Guam with results on the field," said White, who holds a UEFA "A" coaching licence and is one of only 16 candidates with such a certification in the Elite Coaches Academy.
