Former USA star Ramos: World Cup group is 'very tough'

USA national team assistant Tab Ramos is of the belief that this summer's World Cup group will be extremely difficult.

The US are up against Germany, Portugal and Ghana at Brazil 2014 which suggests to former national team midfielder Ramos that it could be a tricky tournament for Juergen Klinsmann's men.

Ramos was at the helm of the USA side for the 2013 FIFA U20 World Cup in Turkey which saw his team record just one point in a group that featured Spain, France and Ghana and ahead of the 2014 senior finals, he sees some vast similarities.

When asked in an interview with Si.com whether he has seen a tough World Cup group for the US, Ramos responded with: "No I don't, actually.

"I had a similar experience last year at the U20 World Cup. But this is very tough. This is very tough."

However, Ramos is of the belief that the current US national team is in a fairly strong position to make life tough for their Group G opponents.

"At the same time I think we've come a long way with US Soccer, so I think that all three teams that are playing us are conscious that in order to beat us, they have to play their best game," he added.
