Former Sunderland trialist Guerin-Lokonga interesting Torquay

According to the Jarrow Roofing boss, League Two Torquay are interested in non-league forward Aris Guerin-Lokonga. Richie McLoughlin said the 20 year old is on the radar of several sides in the Football League.

The hitman, who plays at Northern League Division One level, has already had a trial with Sunderland although interest from the Black Cats has since appeared to wane.

McLoughlin told the Shields Gazette: "There are three lower league clubs looking at Aris, particularly Torquay who would put him in their 16, but they were looking to let two players go first.

"We`re waiting for that to happen, as it would be better at his age to be with a first team at a lower level.

"I don`t think Sunderland is ruled out, but even if they did take him he would have a long way to go before he got any chance. So if Wes (Saunders, the striker`s agent) gets him to a club with a better chance to get in a first 16, it`s a lot better for him."
