Former Socceroo Boutsianis joins Essendon United

Former Socceroo midfielder Con Boutsianis has signed with Victorian club Essendon United.

The 37-year old has returned to Melbourne after being involved with the Premier League of Queensland and as a specialist coach with new A-League franchise Gold Coast United.

The dead-ball specialist will continue his playing career with a club who are chasing their fourth-straight promotion and who are delighted to welcome him.

"Con is officially now a Essendon United player for this season," says United president Spiro Thalassinos.

"We are, as you can imagine, beside ourselves.

"The fact that this country's most commonly recognised set-piece taker has joined our club is a massive boost for grassroots football and the Moonee Valley municipality."

Boutsianis is a South Melbourne legend and has also had stints with Perth Glory and Bolton Wanderers in England.
