Former Scotland boss eyes return to club football

Former Scotland and Ipswich manager George Burley says he is keen to make a return to club football. The 53-year-old was sacked as Scotland coach in November of last year.

He told BBC Suffolk: "I think the experience of the national game will strengthen me as a manager.

"It was a great honour to be manager of my country but now I'm very keen to get back involved in the club side."

Burley, who has also had spells in charge of Derby, Hearts and Southampton, is open-minded about where his next job may be but fears that some media coverage of his time with Scotland could count against him.

"Maybe one or two chairmen look and think 'he didn't do particularly well with Scotland'. The media certainly weren't great and that was a bit of a negative," added Burley.

"But in football you don't know what's around the corner and something could come at home or abroad."
