Former referee Halsey blasts ‘disgraceful’ Leicester defender Huth

Mark Halsey has hit out at Leicester City's Robert Huth following an incident involving Bournemouth's Callum Wilson on the weekend.

The German centre-back booted the ball into the head of the Cherries striker after he had fouled him during Saturday's 1-1 draw at the Vitality Stadium.

Former referee Halsey believes Huth acted inappropriately and is surprised the match official on the day - Neil Swarbrick - did not do more than show the former Stoke City man a yellow card.

"The FA should re-visit that," he said. "Kicking a ball in that manner, at that pace at a fellow professional, who is on the floor, that's a disgrace.

"The ball ricochets off the side of his head, we all know what that could do, if that hits you in a certain place on your head, that could kill you. That could kill you!

"We saw what happened to (Australian cricketer) Phillip Hughes, god bless him, when the cricket ball hit him in a certain place. I just think that is awful, awful. If that happened on the side of the street you'd be arrested.

"That is an assault on the field of play. That should not happen. You should not do that to a fellow professional and I was AMAZED Neil Swarbrick, who's seen it, recognised it, has only showed a yellow card."
