Former Real Madrid GM Jorge Valdano will be surprised if Chelsea sell David Luiz in January.
The Brazil international has been linked with a move to Real next month.
Valdano told Onda Cero: "I cannot believe Chelsea would let David Luiz go. It's not just any club, they do not need money.
"It's possible to influence some teams but not a club of Chelsea's economic power. And Chelsea needs their players. They were champions without playing European competition, they had eleven players and two-three substitutes.
"This year, they have to compete in both competitions and they suffer a lot more. I do not think they can afford to offer one of their players to another team."
