Scottish defender Bob Malcolm has signed with the Brisbane Roar. The former Motherwell and Rangers man signed a one-year deal with the Roar today and is looking forward to stepping straight into a derby match when his new club meets Gold coast United at Suncorp Stadium on August 8.

"The whole squad is looking forward to it and I think it's a great game to be your first game, playing in a derby match, so I can't wait," he said.

"I've played in a few Old Firm games and I'm sure this is going to be the same sort of atmosphere.

"I spoke to a few of the boys and said we'll get off to a good start this season and hopefully that'll be the stepping stone to go and win the league."
