Former Rangers chief Green fined for racist comments

Charles Green has been fined for racist comments he made during a recent interview.

The former Rangers chief executive and current majority shareholder has been hit with a £2500 fine for describing former Ibrox board member Imran Ahmad in a derogatory fashion.

Green referred to Ahmad as his 'little Paki friend' which met derision from outsiders and he has subsequently been sanctioned for his comments.

"As previously stated, Charles Green issued an apology to the Rangers Board, who were satisfied he is not a racist," Rangers spokesman said.

"At the time, Mr Green was reminded of the importance of upholding the standards expected by the club and it was acknowledged he would be dealing with this matter on a personal basis.

"However, given the level of fine imposed we believe the panel consider Mr Green's conduct to have been ill-advised rather than racist."
