Former Norwich star Dublin confident of Premiership survival

Dion Dublin believes Norwich will survive their first season back in the Premier League despite a lack of new faces. The former England international thinks Canaries boss Paul Lambert is the key to ensure their survival in the top flight.

"I do feel that they'll be okay," Dublin told Press Association Sport. "Norwich will stay up because of the determination of their manager.

"He's done a great job. He possibly does need more players but he possibly has his hands tied.

"Most managers do unless they're Chelsea and Man City and you can go and buy whoever you want, but a lot of managers don't have that luxury."

Dublin, an ambassador for The Football Foundation, believes investment at youth level is especially important at smaller clubs, in order to help secure future success against the giant spenders.

He said: "If the academies were right you wouldn't have to look to spend so much.

"You would be able to bring players through, but it's not that easy.

"There's nowhere for those young talented players, who we know are out there, to play at the moment.

"We need to get our academies right and if we get a chance to start with eight and nine-year-olds we'll have more players to choose from for England.

"It's the way we have to think and the way to get the ball rolling. We have to start right at the bottom."
