Former Newcastle United winger Nolberto Solano has joined Northern League side Newcastle Benfield as a first-team coach, following his retirement, reports BBC Sport. The 37-year-old Peru international, who won 95 caps and made 466 league and cup appearances, ended a spell at Hartlepool United to take up the post.
"I believe that Nobby's experience in the game will bring benefit."
The Northern League Division One is Step Five of the non-league pyramid. "I am delighted that we have been able to attract such a big name," chairman Jimmy Rowe said.
Solano opted to retire from professional football after Hartlepool boss Neale Cooper confirmed the winger was no longer part of his first-team plans.
In addition to the role, Solano will study for Uefa licences.
