Steven Taylor is on the verge of joining MLS club Portland Timbers.
Sky Sports reports that the former Newcastle United defender will put pen to a deal with the Timbers in the coming days.
The 30-year-old departed St James' Park at the end of last season after more than two decades with the Magpies and now appears certain to make his way to the USA.
Centre-back Taylor is set to link up with fellow former Premier League defender Liam Ridgewell (Aston Villa, Birmingham City, West Bromwich Albion) who captained Portland to the 2015 MLS Cup.
