Peterborough spent £300,000 on Manchester United striker Nicky Ajose in the summer, but boss Darren Ferguson admits the move has proved a disappointment. The 20 year old was injured against Crystal Palace on the opening day of the season and was sent out on loan to Scunthorpe - where he yet to score and is not playing regularly.
"Nicky was obviously unfortunate to get injured in his first game and others have impressed in his absence," Ferguson told the Evening Telegraph.
"We sent him out on loan to get games and that move has been extended until January, but I'd be lying if I said he hadn't been a disappointment.
"He is a player we invested a lot of money in who has a lengthy contract, so we'll have another look at it in January."
