Former Manchester United winger Andrei Kanchelskis has reportedly applied for the managerial role at Irish club Derry City.

The Irish Mirror is reporting the Ukrainian-born Russian has expressed his interest in the vacant position after the club sacked Peter Hutton.

It is understood Kanchelskis sees the role as stepping stone to a managerial gig in England.

The 46-year-old managed Latvian side FC Jurmala for four months in 2014.
