Jonathan Greening has signed a contract with Northern Counties East Premier Division club Tadcaster Albion.
The 35-year old former Manchester United, West Bromwich Albion and Nottingham Forest midfielder has come out of retirement to join the English ninth division outfit which has lifted the Brewers according manager Paul Marshall.
"It's unbelievable for the club," Marshall told BBC Radio York. "My son has known his daughter for some time but I had never spoken to him before yesterday.
"He's got a Champions League winners' medal and has played for some brilliant clubs. I can't get the smile off my face.
"We had ex-Leeds United player Gary McAllister here before but that was more of a publicity stunt, this is for real. He trained with the lads last night and they were all so excited."
Greening was part of the Man Utd squad that won the treble in 1999, which included the 1998/99 Champions League, and also won the 2004 League Cup with Middlesbrough,, the 2007/08 Championship title with West Brom and was also the Baggies Player of the Year in 2005/06.
