Mike Phelan is intent on bringing has vast array of football knowledge to Hull City.
The former Manchester United assistant has been appointed in a similar role at the KC Stadium where he will work closely with Tigers boss Steve Bruce.
Phelan said he is determined to make a positive impact at his new club who currently sit in the Premier League's relegation zone.
"I'm extremely pleased to be at this football club," Phelan told the club's official site.
"I want to work hard and channel all of my energy into helping the staff, the players and everybody associated with the club.
"I'm looking forward to working with Steve and hopefully I can bring with me some of the things I have learnt over the years to help us improve."
Phelan's first job under Bruce will be helping mastermind a Tigers win in this weekend's trip to second-placed Manchester City.
