Leicester City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson is set to sign Darius Vassell, reports BBC Radio Leicester. The 30-year-old, who played under Eriksson at Manchester City, is a free agent after leaving Ankaragucu and is undergoing a medical at Leicester.

Eriksson told BBC Radio Leicester: "[He will bring] pace, experience and score goals - he has been at this level and higher for many years.

"He is only 30 and should be able to play for many more years."

Vassell began his career with Aston Villa and signed for City for £2m in the summer of 2005.

The Birmingham-born forward is available on a free transfer, after parting company with Turkish side Ankaragucu.
