Obafemi Martins is the highest-paid player in Seattle Sounders history according to a Seattle Times report.
The Nigerian striker, who joined the club from Spanish outfit Levante in March, will earn around $1,725,000 in 2013 after guaranteed compensation which surpasses what Freddie Ljungberg pocketed in 2009-10.
The former Arsenal star was on about $1.3million when he was with Seattle but former Inter Milan and Newcastle United striker Martins has now taken the mantle of the Sounders' biggest-ever earner whilst coming in at fourth on the MLS list.
