Former Hannover, Deportivo midfielder de Guzman delighted with Canada's appointment of Floro

Julian de Guzman believes Canada's appointment of Benito Floro as manager of the national team could be a 'game-changer'.

The Canadian Soccer Association has brought in the former Real Madrid and Villarreal boss to lead the Reds after the CONCACAF Gold Cup and ex-Hannover, Deportivo la Coruna, Toronto FC and FC Dallas midfielder de Guzman has welcomed the choice.

"I don't think I ever played against him (when I was in Spain) or anything but I definitely heard about him," de Guzman told on Friday.

"From his background, I think this could be a very interesting thing. I think a game-changer for the association itself, so I'm looking forward to meeting him."

32-year old de Guzman is also without a club after finishing his time in with German club Jahn Regensburg and has been linked with a move to Polish side Wisla Krakow.

"Right now my main focus is the national team," he added. "I definitely hope we can prove a lot of people wrong and do well in the tournament."
