Former Hammarby, Western Sydney keeper Covic joins Perth Glory

Perth Glory have announced the signing of veteran goalkeeper Ante Covic.

Covic was a significant figure in Western Sydney Wanderers' historic Asian Champions League triumph in 2014, earning Player of the Tournament honours.

However, Wanderers opted not to re-sign the 40-year-old shot-stopper, opening the door for Perth Glory to ink the former Socceroo to a one-year deal.

"I've got plenty of gas in the tank and I still have a lot to give back to the game," Covic told perthglory.com.au.

"I've thought long and hard about this and the opportunity to extend my career ticks off some personal goals. The chance to play for Perth Glory and win something with a different club is exciting and that's what's most appealing to me."
