Crystal Palace boss Dougie Freedman has revealed that he is currently holding talks with former Everton striker Jose Baxter about a move to Selhurst Park, reports the Croydon Advertiser. The 20-year-old, who was recently released by the Toffees, scored three goals in a 15-game loan spell at Tranmere Rovers last season and is now training with the Eagles.
"What's happened with Jose is he's a young guy I've had many meetings with," said Freedman.
"He's a fantastic young player and he's got offers from other clubs - offers from Premier League clubs included - but I've sat down with him and explained the vision of the club and what I think he can get better at.
"Getting him in and over the line is another thing, but we probably need to sit down and talk finances.
"I've got a responsibility to stay within the budget, but I will be working hard to get it done, and there are other ways to get it done rather than just money."
