Former Everton ace Cahill to shake off calf injury for NYRB

Tim Cahill has indicated that he will be available for New York Red Bull in their clash with Chicago Fire this weekend.

The Australian international played through the pain in last week's 2-1 victory over Philadelphia Union but trained fully this week and is fit to take his part in the trip to Toyota Park on Sunday.

"I feel pretty good. It's been a good week for me," Cahill told MLSsoccer.com.

"Off slow to start the week and now it's starting to load up towards the end of the week. We've got a really big game coming this weekend, the momentum feels good with the team. The staff and all the players are basically really looking forward to it. It's a nice feel."

Cahill added that he was unsure who would start up front with injuries to star strikers Thierry Henry and Fabian Espindola but suggested whoever was in the line-up would certainly do their job.

"For us, whoever plays is going to do the job in hand and we're doing tactically everything during the week," he added.

"We can play different positions and make things work, but you play anywhere and you do what you're told; but the main thing is when you're on the football pitch, the XI that's playing, we've got a game-plan and we're sticking to it."
