Former electrician Richardson on verge of Newcastle debut

Michael Richardson could be the surprise packet of the English Premier League season if he plays for Newcastle United this weekend.

The 19-year old electrician has jumped 10 divisions in one season and is now a chance to play for the injury-hit Magpies when they meet Aston Villa this weekend.

Richardson was ¬recommended to Newcastle while at former club Walker Central in the lowly Northern Alliance and says he cannot believe that he is on the verge of the big time.

"I don't think it has sunk in - from going out with my mates for a kick around to running out in front of 60,000," he admitted.

"It happened so quickly and I am just loving every minute. I never thought I'd get this far in six months."
