Former Derby, West Brom forward Barnes pleased with Houston Dynamo form

Giles Barnes says he is happy with the way he has commenced the 2014 MLS season with the Houston Dynamo.

The 25-year old Englishman provided the assist for Will Bruin's goal in the weekend's 1-0 victory over Montreal Impact which came just a week after he contributed to the 4-0 season-opening win over New England Revolution.

Former Debry County, West Bromwich Albion and Doncaster Rovers forward Barnes has formed a good attacking partnership with Bruin and although he is yet to hit the back of the net, he is pleased with the way he is performing for the Texan outfit.

"I'm confident in my ability to score goals, and I showed it preseason," he told MLSsoccer.com.

"The team's doing well, so it doesn't bother me. I'm there to score goals, but I think my general play and what I'm offering to the team with my play is worth its weight in gold as well."

As for his relationship and understanding with Bruin, scorer of three goals already this term, Barnes added: "I think we actually look for each other quite a lot.

"I don't think you can really find many times when Will and I are more than 20-25 yards off each other, if that. We have a good understanding. We've got the ground work set, and we're going onwards and upwards."
