Former Columbus Crew star Schelotto still a free agent

Guillermo Barros Schelotto has not yet found a new club following his release from Columbus Crew.

The 37-year old veteran spent four years with the Crew, winning the 2008 MLS MVP whilst helping the club to the title in the same year, as well as the 2008 and 2009 Supporters' Shields.

But the club decided to end their relationship with Schelotto who says he would love to have remained at Columbus Crew Stadium.

"I love the Columbus Crew," Schelotto told the Columbus Dispatch. "I would love to maybe come back one day and be the coach.

"In the first moment I was surprised," he said of his contract not being renewed. "But now I am just upset that I cannot be in Columbus, in the city, anymore."

Schelotto said that he did not agree with Crew coach Robert Warzycha's decision but understands it is the nature of the beast.

"I am not angry," Schelotto added. "But I don't agree with (Warzycha). I don't argue with him about (me) being slow. You have to have the ball be fast, but you have to have the brain be fast, too.

"But this is soccer, and he can think different than me. I don't argue with all the decisions he has made. He chose another way than me."
