Nicolas Anelka has been appointed as player-manager of Mumbai City FC.
The Indian Super League club announced on their Twitter page that the 36-year old French striker has joined on a marquee deal which will see him take the reins for the 2015 ISL season.
Anelka played for Mumbai City in 2014, the ISL's inaugural campaign, scoring twice in seven appearances as the club finished seventh overall.
The former Chelsea, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, Liverpool and West Bromwich Albion forward replaces ex-Sunderland boss Peter Reid at the helm at the DY Patil Stadium.
The 2015 ISL season kicks off on October 3 and will run until early December. Atletico de Kolkata are the reigning champions following their win over Kerala Blasters in the 2014 final.
